These aliens live in a harsh environment of volcanic activity, earthquakes and subzero temperatures, since the terrain is constantly changing they have to stay on the move. Few tribes have been able to find stable locations to build big enough ships, hoping to relocate to safer planets.

That contrast of icy wastes and active volcanoes is kinda how I could see Helheim (the norse version of Hell) in one of my projects, so thanks for the inspiration ;)
