Hobbes and Bacon 4 by Phill-Art Hobbes and Bacon 4 by Phill-Art
Previous Strips-…

Thanks for all the positive feedback on these guys! Here's another one!

So if you notice in the last panel Hobbes is alive in the same panel as Susie (bacon's mom). Her mom isn't looking at Bacon and Hobbes, so Hobbes can technically be alive. Although Watterson never had Hobbes alive in the same panel with another character, despite if they were looking toward Calvin and Hobbes or not, I thought I could stretch it considering she's imaging her mom with a lava vacuum anyway. (I may change the last panel to two separate panels, just to keep with Watterson's tradition)

Edit: There is this strip that someone in the comments pointed out… Which has Susie looking away from Hobbes, showing him alive. Although, Susie isn't looking toward Hobbes in my strip, her face is in his direction, so maybe it was best to divide the panel.

So many memories of sitting on my uncle's couch as a little girl, devouring Calvin and Hobbes strips...
Wonderful job!

These are great! This one really made me laugh. I remember playing games like that when I was little...still do, from time to time...Gotta keep that imagination going even as we get older. :)

why is her name.......bacon?
Zodiacarmy Featured By Owner Apr 16, 2015  Professional Filmographer
Well short answer is because the original idea of the comic is from PantsAreOverrated and they named her that.

Long answer is because Calvin, Hobbes and Bacon are all philosophers names, John Calvin,  Thomas Hobbes and Francis Bacon.

Loved the Original Calvin and Hobbes since I have memory and I never knew any of that until Bacon and Hobbes came out. :D Thanx Phill-Art for putting more out there.

cool thanks he should make this real like publish it to continue the series ya know since its the 21st century and all.

That would be awesome... but the creator of the original characters retired from comics years ago and has never sold the rights to the characters for anything ever. Bill Watterson! the world needs you man! D:

These are fantastic!  My 12-year-old son has had a 'Hobbes' since he was about 6 months old.  He found a brand new one on eBay and gave it to his brand new second cousin (a girl).  And so, the cycle continues :)

This brings back memories of my childhood. Truly a worthy spiritual successor to the classic strip if ever there was one! Kudos for making these! It's like Calvin and Hobbes for the modern era!

Each one of these i see is getting better and better at speaking with C&Hs "original" voice. And you're right... the advantage of this imagionary layer for storytelling is priceless. (Although it reminds me of one of my web favorites, the daily and sunday strips at Least I could Do which use a similar concept for grown up and juvenile for it#s main character Rayne (Although he's a bit more dirty minded especially as an adult with a little tendency of womanizing) I never really noticed those parallels until today. Cool.)

I can't wait to see more! Your art style, and talent make this amazing. You can capture a child's imagination so well, and this is very close to Bill Waterson's style. I love it, please make comic five.

Actually, I don't think Susie looking at Hobbes should be an issue.  In the original C&H, Susie never seemed to see Hobbes as a stuffed toy, and in the fourth PaO Hobbes and Bacon strip, Calvin and Susie are both able to see Hobbes "alive", though it is through a window.
korblborp Featured By Owner Mar 22, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
i still say you're the best at doing Waterson's style :)
and re-seeing this made me think of Adventure Time.
